As a primary spokesperson for the New York City Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the American Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Alliance for Downtown New York, Bruce has extensive experience in press relations and dealing with local, national and international media organizations.
Working closely with the Giuliani and Bloomberg Administration press offices as well as with American Red Cross and FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC, Bruce has helped develop and implement communication strategy and materials for a wide variety of crisis, corporate and community issues and situations.
As a respected member of the Giuliani press office, Bruce was called upon to be an integral part of the team that managed the Joint Information Center at the City's Emergency Command Center in the months after the World Trade Center disaster. The American Red Cross hired him in 2004 to direct communications for their soon-to-close September 11 Recovery Program, and in 2005 he was hired by FEMA to handle external affairs for their Region II office during the Hurricane Katrina crisis.
During his time in New York City government, Bruce took the initiative in creating successful public service advertising campaigns for Mayor Giuliani and Mayor Bloomberg, campaigns that won numerous industry awards and garnered extensive local and national news coverage.
This section provides numerous examples of Bruce's media relations experience and the news coverage generated by the campaigns. It also offers a series of published articles he wrote about his experiences on and in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.
